North Carolina

Click on Online Projects to explore Tar Heel State maps, photos and newspapers. The North Carolina Newspaper Digitization Project lets you search for a word or phrase in newspapers published in North Carolina from 1751 to 1898. Click on Record Types, then County Records (or go to www.archives.ncdcr.gov/records_county.htm) for indexes to county court records including divorces, estates, guardianships, marriage licenses and wills. The MARS Catalog describes manuscripts in detail, so try searching for names in your family tree.
North Dakota
