Michelle On Risk of U.S.

Michelle observes that Obama as a Black man in the US could be killed going to the gas station...they were not raised to let the threat of white violence stop their day to day trod.

In Obama's 2nd Trayvon speech, and remember it did take TWO, he echoed Michelle's line of thought: 'hey...it could have been me'.  Isn't this defeatist.  The Same thing in his Henry Louis Gates speech, (before he bumped his head and called a white cop 'stupid'), he first said 'you know, that could have been me in my house'.

So they mean: 'We run the risk of being niggerized by being here in the US (i.e. where racism-yt supremacy-in it's most lethal form 'lives').  We were not raised to let the fear of that paralyze us.'

How much further though is it to move from not being afraid of it, to actually moving to stop racism-yt supremacy Directly?

It is a long long way.

Obama Terms: The Slave Holiday

“…on Christmas day, 1833. The days between Christmas and New Year’s day are allowed as holidays; and, accordingly, we were not required to perform any labor, more than to feed and take care of the stock. This time we regarded as our own, by the grace of our masters; and we therefore used or abused it nearly as we pleased.

Those of us who had families at a distance, were generally allowed to spend the whole six days in their society. This time, however, was spent in various ways. The staid, sober, thinking and industrious ones of our number would employ themselves in making corn-brooms, mats, horse-collars, and baskets; and another class of us would spend the time in hunting opossums, hares, and coons. But by far the larger part engaged in such sports and merriments as playing ball, wrestling, running foot-races, fiddling, dancing, and drinking whisky; and this latter mode of spending the time was by far the most agreeable to the feelings of our masters. A slave who would work during the holidays was considered by our masters as scarcely deserving them. He was regarded as one who rejected the favor of his master. It was deemed a disgrace not to get drunk at Christmas; and he was regarded as lazy indeed, who had not provided himself with the necessary means, during the year, to get whisky enough to last him through Christmas.
From what I know of the effect of these holidays upon the slave, I believe them to be among the most effective means in the hands of the slaveholder in keeping down the spirit of insurrection. Were the slaveholders at once to abandon this practice, I have not the slightest doubt it would lead to an immediate insurrection among the slaves. These holidays serve as conductors, or safety-valves, to carry off the rebellious spirit of enslaved humanity. But for these, the slave would be forced up to the wildest desperation; and woe betide the slaveholder, the day he ventures to remove or hinder the operation of those conductors! I warn him that, in such an event, a spirit will go forth in their midst, more to be dreaded than the most appalling earthquake.

The holidays are part and parcel of the gross fraud, wrong, and inhumanity of slavery. They are professedly a custom established by the benevolence of the slaveholders; but I undertake to say, it is the result of selfishness, and one of the grossest frauds committed upon the down-trodden slave. They do not give the slaves this time because they would not like to have their work during its continuance, but because they know it would be unsafe to deprive them of it. This will be seen by the fact, that the slaveholders like to have their slaves spend those days just in such a manner as to make them as glad of their ending as of their beginning. Their object seems to be, to disgust their slaves with freedom, by plunging them into the lowest depths of dissipation. For instance, the slaveholders not only like to see the slave drink of his own accord, but will adopt various plans to make him drunk. One plan is, to make bets on their slaves, as to who can drink the most whisky without getting drunk; and in this way they succeed in getting whole multitudes to drink to excess. Thus, when the slave asks for virtuous freedom, the cunning slaveholder, knowing his ignorance, cheats him with a dose of vicious dissipation, artfully labelled with the name of liberty. The most of us used to drink it down, and the result was just what might be supposed; many of us were led to think that there was little to choose between liberty and slavery. We felt, and very properly too, that we had almost as well be slaves to man as to rum. So, when the holidays ended, we staggered up from the filth of our wallowing, took a long breath, and marched to the field,–feeling, upon the whole, rather glad to go, from what our master had deceived us into a belief was freedom, back to the arms of slavery.

I have said that this mode of treatment is a part of the whole system of fraud and inhumanity of slavery. It is so. The mode here adopted to disgust the slave with freedom, by allowing him to see only the abuse of it, is carried out in other things. ”

Obama's First 100 Days -- The Black Agenda Report Card

The hundred day report card is an enduring tradition in American journalism for a very good reason. It's journalism's job to help citizens make sense of the world, to seek the truth and tell it without fear or favor no matter where it leads. Three months and a week into a new administration, everybody knows where the mens and ladies rooms are, most of the key hires are in place, and the bus has definitely cleared the station. There's plenty of evidence by now to assess where it's going, and whether it's anyplace we really ought to be headed.

Should We Grade President Obama on What He Promised, or on What People Need?
The answer to this should be easy. It all depends on whether we imagine government derives its authority from the blessedness of anointed men and women in office, or whether legitimacy comes from the informed consent of the governed. Most of us who were not home schooled learned it the latter way: governments are legit only insofar as they serve the people. Limiting the scope of a report card to what politicians promise confers upon them the power to lock down our collective imagination and deny our hunger and thirst for justice before we can even express it.

Why These Categories?

Black Men e

Obama, first black US president was 20 years old 27 years ago. Given that, it is not ironical, & it is certainly understated that "Nationally, less than 60% of black men age 20 and older were employed in February, the lowest share since the government began tracking such data in 1972, and down from 66% a year earlier.” ~Peter S. Goodman in the Boston Sunday Globe on April 5.

Well designed information item here on cowardice.

New Short Story

Barack Obama’s Dream During the First Night in the White House.
The Dream began: Barack Obama stormed slowly through the House offices and a basement areas, apparently from one crisis meeting to another. He wore a huge flowing robe striped in the colors of kente cloth, rich green, red, orange and black. He wore a cap reflecting that found in any number of secret brotherhoods to the west of his father’s land.

No American aides were anywhere to be found. Obama did not carry any technology but his taller stronger self. His stride was confident enough to make even the most radical pan-africanist scared for him. He was history manifested. He was unstrict genetics become.

He never looked down, but the bones and teeth of dead slaves that other slaves, the ancestors, had tucked secretly in the House’s foundation lit up his steps: guided his path through the House.

He continued through hallways. Obama was beyond the system error he had had to believe was un-quitable. Was he alone in the House? No. He was air’place and air’day. He knew that he could no longer exist as a believer that how he felt was what made America happen. How did he know this? Things like this become easy in dream-time; especially for a one-time multiple immigrant who had lost a friend: an elder friend with a black heart at that. The more offices he passed, the more overstanding added to him. He knew the strange people would not keep him. He knew they, not he, would write his memoir.

So he turned a corridor and entered a big room filled with forgotten ancestors. He walked round the outside of the gathering and took a place behind Mandela’s people. He listened eyes closed to all the ancestors who spoke and he did not classify the teachments for future use. He let the 40+ vibrations add to him as he closed the door and moved on.

Suddenly he was outside. In a New England court yard on a royal colonial esstate. Obama smiled as he watched the enslaved and the White ‘Election Day’ crowds eat, dance and ‘put on’. He at once overstood what it meant to have America support him & made a mental decree to ban all future travel on it’s behalf. His smile grew because he knew Michelle would say two things: one, he was good trouble for real white folk and two, he, (as a process?), was a heart pill for other concerned white folks: copy and paste style. Michelle. Where was she? No where. Which made him think. Made him think what? Made him think things would change.

The dream ended: Obama slowed his trod and stopped before the White House bedroom he had learned to find. He stood still forgetting his prior steps, lost in the newest idea to his mind: the world was 100% right in him being necessary but for 100% of the wrong reason. Looking at the back of his hand, he looked at some nearby American thing, looked away again and awoke...in crisis.

Attempted Bconx Alert

Back from underground (smile) ...Monday na present. Same gov't wan' me fi 'day off' 'given in honor' of the man's life, is the same gov't who dey took that life-na celebrate left in me 4 dis. Tho, despite all of the many many thoughts on the Obama process, I did have a strong feeling tues. ...i supsect a black man stopped the world for a couple hours (for good or bad).

Last week i received an email titled "How far we've come". Normally trash mail that looks like a chain-letter but I opened it and scrolled through 2 pictures & some text: it was an attempted Black Connection (Bconx). The first picture was a Norman Rockwell painting of Ruby Bridges ... ... the little black girl who had to be escorted to school by federal marshals.
The text beside it read: "On November 14, 1960, Bridges faced hostile crowds as the first black child to attend a previously all-white New Orleans school. She was 6 years old and had only been told by her mother that she was going to be attending a new school that day and 'had better behave.' Little did she know that she would be bombarded with jeers and even death threats, and that she would end up being the sole child in her first grade class after other children were kept home by their parents. All because Ruby was Black." (*awo) One of the chail letter senders (an elder Sister) commented: “I just busted out in tears. I actually saw that on the news when I was a little girl”. This was follwed by another picture & text:

"Forty-eight years later -- January 5, 2009 -- here is a picture of Sasha Obama, a little 7 year old Black girl, being escorted to school by her mother, First Lady-elect Michelle Obama, and the Secret Service because Sasha's daddy is now President-elect of the United States, Barack Obama".

Here are 3 more Bconx that were not made because we are asleep or sleepwalking or both. The Obamas inherit an upsidedown kingdom, one in which the 'highest' leaders must use great protection for themselves & their family because of fear of the wi(d)er society. This fear is displayed in other escorts:

Charlietown Yut still need Ruby escort. W/Backthorn transfer, whey dem strong self-hate self-damage 'pon one a neddy.

Seen. Na bullet proof windows...MISSLE-Proof. Root of this fear? The Barricado.

Besides disease, pirate's biggest fear was insurrection on the slaver. They had insurance: arms, and wooden wall-barrier (escort) right on the deck in case of bad (upsidedown) feeling. Progress? Only a progression of wasted earth resources, insuring-re-enforcing unnecessary sysdems of fear (backthorn, awo), eh? Game as old as Empire.
& Jan 21... "So which way now? We have known hurt. But we have known miracles." -sister Adalaide Sanford
This is what sleepwalking too long does...affects language and even thought: Ruby's escort was not 'all because Ruby was Black'. HER BLACKNESS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. OUR BLACKNESS NEVER HAD TO DO WITH IT. WHEY BBY IMAGINATION IN DEM DOME STRANGE IS ‘ALL BECAUSE’. This imagination has not been addressed in the 'Obama process':
(what sysdems = 'elephant in the room' here?)

Mn-nfrBirmingham Negroes

Oh boy. Where to begin.

Michael Sullivan: “is that a serious question?” As the son of the illiterate John Shakespeare once wrote: ‘The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”

Darnell: “I think the race card is not something that should be played or used here...we have obama elected so clearly our country has made progress” 20 seconds of ‘weakest black man on so many levels’ iman seen in months...

So now, Shiela Dixon’s turn. Bconx: what bad jackets (us) will they use to impact our little now power? And why do we make the same mistakes as our fathers? Rootz idren. Rootz & Inatty: semi-Arius & Coulter seen.
